COVID-19

Participants and Program Staff are expected to adhere to the Minors at Northwestern Policy as well as current expectations for on campus events. Northwester’s Covid. All university information, including current status, can be found here. Specific guidelines will be shared with families prior to the first day of camp.

Registration

Registration is accepted on a first come, first serve basis. Registrations are not complete until full payment is received or a scholarship is awarded.

If a session fills, waitlisted names will be invited on a first come, first serve basis if and when spaces open.

Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships are available. Students who qualify for the Free and Reduced Lunch program will qualify. Applications may be made as part of the registration process.

Refunds

Refunds - minus a $60 handling fee - will be offered until three weeks prior to the first day of the first camp session (6/17/24 for Summer 2024). Refunds requested less than two weeks before the start of camp will require a doctor’s note. No refunds will be offered after the beginning of camp.

Attire

Campers will be engaged in field work and/or lab work every day. For safety reasons, close toed shoes and long pants are required every day.

Campers should wear comfortable clothes and shoes that they are willing to get dirty. They should be prepared to work outside, even in inclimate weather. We will stay indoors only in the case of lightning, heavy rain or extreme heat.

Drop off and pick up

Drop off and pick up will occur in front of the NU Technical Institute at 2145 N. Sheridan Avenue.

Short term parking is available on Noyes and Haven Streets. Campers must be signed in and out by an authorized individual.

Drop off will occur between 9:15am and 9:30am; Pick up will occur between 4:30pm and 4:45pm.

Medical and Health

Any medical or health concerns - including all allergies - should be indicated on the registration form. If needed, camp staff will check with parents/guardians ahead of camp to discuss appropriate arrangements.

Behavior

Campers will be required to sign a behavior agreement during sign in on the first day of camp. A copy of this agreement is included in the registration process.

Parents/guardians will be contacted in the case of serious misbehavior. Persistent problems may result in the expulsion from camp.

Food

Food is not allowed in the lab for safety reasons.

Lunch will be provided through the Northwestern dining halls. Additional snacks will also be provided.

  • Electronic devices (campers may bring cell phones but they should remain put away unless explicitly directed by camp instructors or in the case of emergency)
