Midoint of Camp!!

Welcome to the halfway point of our camp! Today started with teambuilding and a discussion of why questions are so important in scientific investigations. We also had the campers brainstorm questions they had about our initial data sets. Next, we took a trip to the Shakespeare Garden to observe pollinator activity. Afterwards we stopped for lunch and a bit of time outside before the rain started. 

Once back in the lab we gave the campers some non-science activities to do, including mad libs, categories, and a scavenger hunt on the first floor of tech. We then moved back into the lab and had the campers refine their questions, and make them more specific. It is important to have a specific research question so that the campers can design an effective experiment. Next, we paired up the campers that had similar questions, and spent the rest of the day having them brainstorm different experimental ways that they may want to answer their question. We are so excited for tomorrow and can’t wait for the campers to start investigating the answers to their question.
